Doctor Noto has extensive experience and training at reading various imaging studies including:
X-rays- often used as an initial tool to screen for any bone abnormalities
CT-Scans- imaging study of choice for patients who have a pacemaker
MRIs- the gold standard for imaging the spine. It has excellent ability to examine the bone and disc anatomy.
Tests performed by Dr. Noto:
Electro-Myography (EMGs)- Often used to diagnose any muscle or nerve problem. Dr. Noto did additional training during his fellowship to be able to both perform and read EMG studies.
Discography/Discograms- Used to examine the anatomy of a patient’s disc and to tell whether or not the patient’s pain is coming from a particular disc.
Diagnostic Nerve Blocks- Used to both treat pain and to localize pain to a specific spinal nerve.
Diagnostic Joint Injections- Used to both treat pain and to localize the pain to a particular joint. Often useful to distinguish whether or not the pain is coming from the joint or another part of the body.
